History

Braces are metal or esthetics elements that helps in ortodoncy's treatment. They have not a long history behind them, they are nearly new. The other treatents are not like braces, and date from the XIX century.

Lingual braces

This kind of braces are put behind your teeth, so it is difficult to see them. They are usually made of metal.

Esthetic braces

Ceramic brackets are made of composite materials. They are very strong and generally do not stain. They blend in with the teeth and are less noticeable than metal. The ligatures that hold the arch wire on to the ceramic brackets are often white or clear.
Five disadvantages:
1. Fragility: Ceramic braces will easily break if you are not careful, and they may cut your lips.
2. Teeth: They may wear your teeth down.
3. Removal: In some cases, removal can hurt the patient.
4. Stains: Easily stained, you have to take care of the food you eat.
5. Correction Time: The correction needs more time.

Metal braces

It is the most known and used ortodoncy. Braces are put on the teeth, so they are visible. As its name says, they are made of metal. They are cheaper than the other kinds of braces (ceramic...)
